Matariki is the Maori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. The topic is if all new Zealanders should celebrate Matariki. I think all New Zealanders should celebrate Matariki because it is for many New Zealanders 31 December means parties and celebrations to welcome the New Year. These celebrations are an important way of marking the passage of time as well as heralding new beginnings. And a reason to disagree is because.
It is not for everyone because it is a celebration Maori came up with. But I agree all new Zealanders should celebrate Matariki. Matariki was a celebration in the 1900’s but in 1940 it was forgotten and came back as a celebration in the 2000’s. New Zealanders should celebrate Matariki because it is the Maori new year and is a celebration to anyone. Also because it is a celebration that has happened in New Zealand.
Some people think Matariki is a event not for all new Zealanders because some people could be busy doing other things with their family example they might not understand what is Matariki and not care about what it is another reason is they might be a different culture and not know how to celebrate it and just ignore the holiday .
All new Zealanders should be able to celebrate Matariki because it is a celebration that has happened in new Zealand so I think all new Zealanders should be able to celebrate Matariki so I think it is not for one culture and for anyone.
do you celebrate Matariki?
Hi my name is Rollin. And yes I celebrate Matariki. And I think more New Zealanders need to know about the Matariki celebration. Other than that. Great work!

ReplyDeleteHi my name is Hunter. I think this is an awesome post. Next time I reckon you should put a capital letter at the "do you celebrate Matariki" part. I would also like a bit more information.
